Epworth Geelong
Resource Recycling and
Resource Disposal Audit
Epworth Geelong provides an emergency department, 170 medical, surgical and rehabilitation inpatient beds, a range of surgeries, medical consulting suites, rehabilitation facilities, a complex care unit, maternity ward as well as a clinical education and simulation precinct.
Heidi Fog conducts resource recycling and resource disposal audits for various types of organisations. For hospitals she works within the Health Service Waste Audit guidelines set by Department of Health & Human Services, State Government of Victoria and apply her knowledge of the waste industry and analytical skills acquired through years of working for blue-chip national and international organisations.
The Solution
Epworth commissioned Heidi Fog to conduct an audit of all resources collected for recycling and disposal from their Geelong hospital across one 24-hour period.
The prime focus for the audit was:
A contribution to the Epworth Health Strategy 2018-2022 vision and purpose
Identification of cost savings opportunities from resource efficiencies and actions needed to achieve these
A resource for setting and / or reaching Epworth’s benchmarks of resource recycling and disposal across resources streams and key indicators
Determine contamination rates of current resource streams
Investigating requirements and opportunities for additional resource streams
Identifying group and local opportunities to maintain resources in the resource cycle
